Miami Exploding with Global Culture

Last night was an amazing night of Chuchito Valdez’s artistry and Afro-Cuban riffs at CubaOcho Art and Research Center in the heart of Little Havana.  As the resident dance cohort (Corrina, Maame and and myself) sipped white wine and admired the bartenders, presenter Ruben Abella from Latin World Talent breezed back and forth preparing for Chuchito.  We chatted about how badly we all would like to see a renaissance of live music presentation in Miami–according to Ruben somewhat like how things were circa ’85.  It was truly a lovely intimate evening of music and amazingly warm venue thanks to Yeney and Roberto Ramos, who hosted the event.   This venue is for sure one of the reasons I love hanging out in Little Havana so much.

This week Los Muñequitos de Matanzas come to town and Wednesday I will be going to their masterclass hosted by Miami Light Project (save the date for their May 21st fundraiser) I am excited to see their new space at the The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse and will definitely get you some coverage of what is sure to be a major dancing and drumming extravaganza…
